Purpose
TuxPouch was born from a simple pain point: local AI and automation tools produce outputs constantly, but there’s no easy way to know when something new appears. We built it to fix that — a small, open-source utility that keeps creators in sync with their own systems. It’s a reflection of how we build at Active Twist: start with real friction, solve it cleanly, and share it freely. Because innovation doesn’t need to be complex — it just needs to work, locally and transparently.
How It Works
TuxPouch runs quietly in your system tray, monitoring one or more folders for new files using the Watchdog library. When something new appears — an image, a text file, a dataset — it sends a clean desktop notification through libnotify and logs it in a simple YAML-based config.
You can open the gallery window to preview recent files, manage watched folders, or pause monitoring with a click. It’s lightweight, open-source, and 100 % offline — a small companion that keeps your workflow visible without ever getting in the way.
What We Learned
TuxPouch reminds us that innovation isn’t always about scale — it’s about precision. A simple utility, built to solve a single problem well, can change how people work. By applying our own process — clear framing, rapid prototyping, and disciplined iteration — we turned an internal frustration into a shareable tool.
